Know your number. We test your tap water in front of you — and again after your softener is running.

What to expect

  1. We fill a sample from your kitchen tap.
  2. We run a hardness test and read the result with you.
  3. We explain what the number means for your fixtures, water heater and skin.
  4. If a softener makes sense, you get a posted package price, confirmed for your water source and install location before any work starts. If not, we tell you.

Curious ahead of time? JEA publishes typical hardness by ZIP. Look yours up in Jacksonville water hardness by ZIP code.

Frequently asked questions

What does the test measure?

Hardness — the calcium and magnesium in your water — in grains per gallon (gpg). Above about 7 gpg is generally considered hard.

Is there any obligation?

None. You get your number and an honest explanation, whether you buy anything or not.

Does the test affect my price?

Pricing may vary depending on your water source and install location (for example well vs. city water, the distance to the existing connection, or access). Your final price is confirmed after your free water test, before any work starts.

Why test after installation too?

So you can see proof your new softener is working — a before-and-after you can see with your own eyes.
